PATTERNS OF PERSECUTION

Persecute: dioka= to pursue

Persecution: diogmos=pursuit

                      thlipsis= oppression, affliction

1.          Acts 4:3 “They laid hands on them and put them in hold.”(Peter & John)

2.          Acts 4:17-18 “They threatened them and commanded them not to speak at all nor teach in name of Jesus.”(Peter & John)

3.          Acts 5:18 “They laid hands on the apostles(all 12)and put them in the common prison.”

4.          Acts 5:26-27 “The captain and officers brought them before the council.”

5.          Acts 5:40 “They beat the apostles(all 12) and commanded that they not speak in the name of Jesus.”

6.          Acts 6:12, 59 “They caught Stephen and brought him to the council…and they stoned him to death.”

7.          Acts 8:1 “There was great persecution against the church which was at Jerusalem.”

8.          Acts 8:3 “Saul made havoc of the church entering into every house and haling men and women committed them to prison.”

9.          Acts 9:1 “Saul breathed out threatening and slaughter against the disciples of the Lord.”

10.      Acts 9:31 “Then the church/es had rest through out all Judea, Galilee and Samaria and were edified; walking in the fear of the Lord, and in the comfort of the Holy Ghost were multiplied.”

11.      Acts 11:19 “Now they which were scattered abroad upon the persecution that arose about Stephen traveled as far as Phenice, Cyprus and Antioch preaching the word.”

12.      Acts 12:1-2 “Now about that time Herod the King stretched forth his hands to vex certain of the church and killed James the brother of John with the sword.”

13.      Acts 12:4 “Herod put Peter in prison.”

14.      Acts 21:27 “The Jews stirred up the people and laid hands on Paul.”

15.      Acts 22:24 “The chief captain commanded Paul to be bound, scourged and imprisoned and Paul appealed to Caesar.”

16.      Acts 28:16,23,30 “Paul dwelt in his own hired house as a prisoner of the gospel.”
