to Prior Teaching page HOW WILL YOU BE REMEMBERED? Scripture: “Verily I say unto you, Wheresoever this gospel shall be preached in
the whole world, this also which she hath done, shall be spoken of for a memorial
of her.” Introduction Memorial Day is a day to lovingly remember those who have lived before us
and in death, have gone on to be with our Lord. How will people remember you? Illustration:
“See if that’s your Pa?” What
will be the epitaph on your tomb stone? Illustration: “Epitaph” Main Body: HOW WILL YOU BE REMEMBERED? 1.
Woman
who broke a box, poured ointment on Jesus’ head and GAVE what she had:(Mark
14:3-9)”Breaking an alabaster (marble) box of spikenard(balm
of ointment fragrance for burial) which was very precious(costly)”? 2.
Mary
of Bethany who anointed Jesus, wiped His feet, sat at His feet, heard His
word and GAVE of herself: (John 11:2) “Anointed the Lord with ointment and wiped His
feet with her hair”?(Luke 10:39) “Mary, which also sat at
Jesus’ feet, and heard His word”? 3.
Dorcas
who sewed and GAVE:(Acts 9:36-42)Good works, alms deeds, coats and garments? 4.
Cornelius
who prayed and GAVE:(Acts 10:4) ”Thy Prayers and alms are come up for a
memorial before God.” Conclusion All of these Scriptural examples have commonality, in that they GAVE Matthew 10:42 “Whosoever shall give to drink unto one
of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of
a disciple, verily I say unto, he shall in no wise lose his reward. Matthew 25:35-36, 40 “For I was hungered, and ye gave me meat: I
was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye
took me in: Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye
visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.
Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my
brethren(little ones), ye have done it unto me.” Acts 20:35 “It is more blessed to give than to receive.” Back
