II. “As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he.”(Proverbs 23:7)

1.   Thinking is going on all the time, and it affects everything we say or do.  

Even when we’re sleeping, the mind is at work.

 

III. “We take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.”(II Cor. 10:5)

1.   Erroneous concepts:

a.   “Thoughts have a mind of their own”

b.   “It just popped into my head”

c.    “I don’t know where thoughts come from”

d.   “I just can’t stop thinking about…”

e.    “Our thought life exists apart from us”

 

2.   Your thoughts are under your control!

a.   It’s time to stop copping out!

b.   It’s time to stop making excuses!

c.    It’s time to stop blaming the devil!

 

IV. Handling your thoughts:

1.   Detect: Be aware of the content of your thoughts.  What are you thinking about?

2.   Decide: If the thoughts are good or bad.

3.   Determine: To replace bad thoughts with good ones.

 

V.  “Put on the whole armor of God”(Ephesians 6:10-18)

   1. “Put on the helmet of salvation”

a.   The helmet goes on the head, the mind

b.   If the thinking is off, everything else is going to be off

c.    If we have bad thoughts about ourselves, we will never reach the potential God created us with.

d.   If we have bad thoughts about others, we will become cut off from them and sink into loneliness, despair and depression.

e.    If we have wrong thoughts about God, our relationship with Him can be hindered.
