JESUS
VICTORY OVER TEMPTATION
LUKE 3:22; 4:1, 2, 14
1.
Luke 3:21 “Now when all the people were baptized, it came to
pass, that Jesus also being baptized, and praying, the heaven was
opened.”
2.
Luke 3:22 “And the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape
like a dove upon him, and a voice came from heaven, which said, Thou art
my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased.”(Luke 3:16 “He (Jesus)shall baptize
you with the Holy Ghost and with fire.”)
3.

Jordan.”
4.
Luke 4:1b-2 “And Jesus was led by the Spirit into the
wilderness, being forty days *tempted of the devil.
And in those days he did eat nothing: and when they were ended, he
afterward hungered.
5.
Luke 4:3-4 “And the devil said unto him, If thou be the
Son of God, command this stone that it be made bread.
And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man
shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.”
6.
Luke 4:5-8 “And the devil, taking him up into an high
mountain, shewed unto him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time.
And the devil said unto him, All this power will I give thee, and the
glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give
it. If thou therefore wilt worship
me, all shall be thine. And Jesus
answered and said unto him, Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written,
Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.”
7.
Luke 4:9-12 “And he(devil) brought him to Jerusalem, and
set him on a pinnacle of the temple, and said unto him, If thou be the Son of
God, cast thyself down from hence: For it is written, He shall give his angels
charge over thee: And in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time
thou dash thy foot against a stone. And
Jesus answering said unto him, It is said, Thou shalt not tempt
the Lord thy God.”
8.
Luke 4:13 “And when the devil had ended all the temptation,
he departed from Jesus for a season.”
9.

John 2:16 “For all that is in the world, the lust of the
flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is
not of the Father, but is of the world.
- “Tempted of the devil”: Genesis
3:1-6 “Now the serpent was more subtle than any beast of the
field which the Lord God had made. And
he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every
tree of the garden? And the woman
said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the
garden: But of the fruit of the
tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not
eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.
And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:
For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be
opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.
And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and
that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired
to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat,
and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.”
- “Tempted of the devil”: James4:7
“Submit yourselves therefore to God.
Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”

6:10-18 “Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord be,
and in the power of his might. Put
on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand
against the wiles of the devil.
For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against
principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the
darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high
places. Wherefore take unto
you the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to
withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth,
and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod
with the preparation of the gospel of peace: Above all, taking
the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the
fiery darts of the wicked. And
take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit,
which is the word of God: Praying always with all prayer and supplication
in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance
and supplication for all saints;”
- “Tempted of the devil”: Matthew
16:16-19”And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ,
the Son of the living God. And
Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh
and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in
heaven. And I say also unto
thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church;
and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven:
and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and
whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.”
