THE CHURCH AS THE BODY OF CHRIST

1.     Ephesians 1:22-23 “God gave Christ to be the HEAD over all things to the CHURCH, which is His BODY, the fullness of Him that filleth all in all.

2.     Ephesians 2:16-22ONE BODY by the cross…household of God built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone; in whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord: In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.”(I Pet. 2:5 “Lively stones”)

3.     Ephesians 4:1-16ONE BODY…Christ gave gifts: some apostles, prophets; evangelists; pastor/teachers; for the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the BODY of Christ…the HEAD…from whom the whole BODY fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the BODY unto the edifying of itself in love.”

4.     Colosians 1:18-24; 3:15 “Christ is the HEAD of the BODY, the CHURCH…Christ’s BODY which is the CHURCH.  Ye are called into ONE BODY.”

5.     I Peter 4:10-11 “As every man hath received the gift, even to minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.  If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of god; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ.”

6.     Romans 12:3-8 “God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.  For as we have many members in ONE BODY and all members have not the same function…having gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, ministry, teaching, exhortation, giving, ruling, mercy…”

7.     I Corinthians 12:4-31 “Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit: word of wisdom, word of knowledge, faith, gifts of healing, miracles, prophecy, discerning of spirits, divers kinds of tongues, interpretation of tongues: But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as He will.  God hath set some in the CHURCH, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, miracles, gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues…”

8.     Ephesians 5:23-32 “Christ is the HEAD of the CHURCH…that He might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word.  That He might present it to himself a glorious CHURCH, not having spot, or wrinkle or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.”
