THE BIBLICAL ROLE OF MEN

I.                    Relationship to Christ

A.                Walk in daily repentance and confession

                                                1.                  I Corinthians 11:31-32 “If we judge ourselves, we should not be judge.  But when we are judged we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world.”

                                                2.                  John 15:3 “Ye are clean through the Word.”

                                                3.                  Ephesians 5:26 “That Christ might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the Word.”

                                                4.                  James 5:16 “Confess your faults one to another.”

                                                5.                  I John 1:9 “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

                                                6.                  Be continually filled with the Spirit

                                                7.                  Ephesians 5:18 “Be not drunk with wine wherein is excess; but be ye filled with the Spirit.”

B.                 Be in the Word

                                                1.                  Read: Revelation 1:3 “Blessed is he that readeth, heareth and keepeth those things which are written.”

                                                2.                  Hear: Romans 10:17 “Faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.”

                                                3.                  Study: II Timothy 2:15 “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of truth.”

                                                4.                  Memorize: Psalm 119:11 “Thy Word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.”

                                                5.                  Meditate: Psalm 1:2-3 “His delight is in the law of the Lord, and in his law doth he mediate day and night.”

                                                6.                  Obey: I John 1:4 “These things write we unto you, that your joy may be full.”

C.                Be equipped for spiritual warfare

                                                1.                  Ephesians 6:10-18 “Put on the whole armour of God that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.”

                                                2.                  II Corinthians 10:4-5 “Pulling down strongholds; casting down imaginations.  Bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience to Christ.”

                                                3.                  Matthew 6:13 “Deliver us from the evil one.”

                                                4.                  Philippians 4:4-9 “Jesus stands guard over your hearts and minds.”

                                                5.                  Romans 6:13 “Yield your members as instruments of righteousness.”

B.                 Uniqueness

C.                Needs Fellowship: Genesis 2:18 “It is not good that man should be alone.”

H.                Ephesians 5:18-19 “Be filled with the Spirit; speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord.”
