Luke 2:25 “And, behold, there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name
was Simeon; the same man was just and devout, waiting
for the consolation of Israel: and the Holy Ghost was
upon him.”
1. Matthew 10:5-14
“These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them…as ye go, preach, saying,
The kingdom of heaven is at hand. Heal
the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have
received, freely give. Provide
neither gold, nor silver, nor brass in your purses, nor script for your journey,
neither two coats, neither shoes, nor ye staves: for the workman is worthy of
his meat. And into whatsoever city
or town ye shall enter, inquire who in it is worthy: and there abide till
ye go thence. And when ye come into
an house, salute it. And if the
house be worthy, let your peace come upon it: but if it be not worthy, let you
peace return to you. And whosoever
shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when ye depart out of that house or
city, shake off the dust of you feet. Verily
I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorha in
the day of judgment, than for that city.
2. Mark 6:7-13 “And he called unto him the twelve, and began to send them
forth by two and two; and gave them power over unclean spirits; And commanded
them that they should take nothing for their journey, save a staff only; no
scrip, no bread, no money in their purse: but
be shod with sandals; and not put on two coats.
And he said unto them, In what place so ever ye enter into an house,
there abide till ye depart from that place.
And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear you, when ye depart thence,
shake off the dust under your feet for a testimony against them.
Verily I say unto you, it shall be more tolerable for Sodom and Gomorrha
in the day of judgment, than for that city.
And they went out, and preached that men should repent.
And they cast out many devils, and anointed with oil many that were sick,
and healed them.”
3. Luke 9:1-6 “Then he
called his twelve disciples together, and gave them power and authority
over all devils, and to cure diseases. And
he sent them to preach the kingdom of God, and to heal the sick.
And he said unto them, Take nothing for your journey, neither staves, nor
scrip, neither bread, neither money; neither have two coats apiece.
And whatsoever house ye enter into, there abide, and thence
depart. And whosoever will not
receive you, when ye go out of that city, shake off the very dust from your feet
for a testimony against them. And
they departed, and went through the towns, preaching the gospel, healing every
where.”
4. Luke 10:1-12, 17-20 “The Lord appointed other seventy also, and sent
them two and two before his face into every city and place, whither he himself
would come. Therefore said he unto
them, The harvest truly is great, but the laborers are few: pray ye therefore
the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth laborers into his harvest.
Go your ways: behold, I send you forth as lambs among wolves.
Carry neither purse, nor scrip, nor shoes: and salute no man by the way.
And into whatsoever house ye enter, first say, Peace be to
this house. And if the son of
peace be there, your peace shall rest upon it: if not, it shall turn to you
again. And in the same house
remain, eating and drinking such things as they give: for the laborer is worthy
of his hire. Go not from house to
house. And into whatsoever city ye
enter, and they receive you, eat such things as are set before you:
And heal the sick that are therein, and say unto them, The kingdom f God
is come night unto you. But into
whatsoever city ye enter, and they receive you not, go your ways out into the
streets of the same, and say, Even the very dust of your city, which cleaveth on
us, we do wipe off against you: notwithstanding be ye sure of this, that the
kingdom of God is come nigh unto you. But
I say unto you, that it shall be more tolerable in that day for Sodom, than for
that city. And the seventy returned
again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy
name. And he said unto them, I
beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven.
Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and
over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.
Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto
you; but rather rejoice because your names are written in heaven.”
