Greek: epistrophe conversion meaning a turning about or upon as in Acts

 15:3“Paul and Barnabas declaring the conversion of the

 Gentiles.”

   epistrepho convert meaning to turn about or upon as in

 James 5:20  “He which converteth the sinner from the

 error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide

 a multitude of sins.”

              epistrepho converted  meaning to turn about or upon as in:

Matthew 13:15 “Lest at any time they should see with their

eyes, and hear with their ears, and should understand with

their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal

them.”

Mark 4:12 “That seeing they may see, and not perceive;

and hearing they may hear, and not understand; lest at any

time they should be converted, and their sins should be

forgiven them.”

Luke 22:32 “Jesus: But I prayed for thee(Simon Peter), that

thy faith fail not: and when thou are converted, strengthen

thy brethren.”

John 12:40 “He hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their

heart; that they should not see with their eyes , not

understand with their heart, and be converted, and I should

heal them.”

Acts 3:19 “Repent ye therefore, and be converted that your

sins may be blotted out.”

Acts 28:27 “For the heart of this people is waxed gross, and

their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes have they

closed; lest they should see with their eyes, and hear with

their ears, and understand with their heart, and should be

converted, and I should heal them.”

            strepho converted meaning to turn as in Matthew 18:3 “Except ye be

    converted and become as little children, ye shall not enter into

    the kingdom of heaven.”

NEW TESTAMENT EXAMPLES:

1.   Nicodemus- John 3:1-21 “Ye must be born again(gennao= to beget or

 bring forth; anagennao= to beget anew as in I Peter 1:23

 “Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of

 incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth

 for ever.”.”(John 7:50; 19:39)

2.   Zacchaeus- Luke 19:2-10 “And Jesus said unto him, This day is salvation

     come to this house, forsomuch as he also is a son of Abraham.”

3.   Levi(Matthew)- Luke 5:27-32 “Jesus said, Follow me.  And Levi left all,

  rose up, and followed Jesus.”

4.   Peter- Matthew 16:16Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.”

           John 6:69We believe and are sure that thou art that Christ, the

 Son of the living God.”

5.   Martha- John 11:27 “Martha said unto him, Yea, Lord: I believe that thou

art the Christ, the son of God, which should come into the world.”

6.   John- John 20:8 “Then went in also that other disciple(John), which came

      first to the sepulcher, and he saw, and believed.”

7.   Samaritans- John 4:42Now we believe, not because of thy saying: for we

       have heard him ourselves, and know that this is indeed the

       Christ, the Savior of the world.”

8.   Nobleman- John 4:50-53He believed, and his whole house.”

9.   Blind Man Born Blind- John 9:1-38 Dost thou believe on the Son of God? 

    He answered and said, Who is he, Lord, that I

    might believe on him?  And Jesus said unto him,

    Thou hast both seen him, and it is he that talketh

    with thee.  And he said, Lord, I believe, and he

    worshipped him.”

10. Jews at Pentecost- Acts 2:37-38, 41What shall we do?  Then Peter said

        unto them, Repent, and be baptized everyone of you in

        the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and

        ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.  And they

        that gladly received his word were baptized.”

11. Ethiopian Eunuch- Acts 8:27-39 “See, here is water; what doth hinder me

         to be baptized?  And Philip said, If thou believest with

         all thine heart, thou mayest, and he answered and said, I

         believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.  And Philip

         baptized him.”

12. Saul of Tarsus- Acts 9:1-18 Brother Saul, the Lord, even Jesus, that

    appeared unto thee in the way as thou camest, hath sent

    me, that thou mightest receive thy sight and be filled with

    the Holy Ghost.  And he received his sight forth with, and

    arose, and was baptized.”

13. Cornelius the Centurion- Acts 10:1-48 “While Peter yet spake these

         words, ‘through His name whosoever believeth

         in him shall receive remission of sins.’ the Holy

         Ghost, fell on all them which heard the word. 

         And Peter commanded them to be baptized in   

         the name of the Lord.”

14. Lydia- Acts 16:14-15 “Lydia whose heart the Lord opened, and was

         baptized and her household.”

15. Philippian Jailer- Acts 16:23-34 “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?  And

      they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou

      shalt be saved and thy house.  He was baptized , he and

      all his, straightway.”
