BRIDE
AND BRIDEGROOM
1. Genesis
1:26-31; 2:18-25 “And the
Lord God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will
make him an help meet for him. And
the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he
took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof; And the rib,
which the Lord God had taken from man, made he a woman, and
brought her unto the man. And
Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be
called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.
Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave
unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.
And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not
ashamed.”
2. Isaiah
61:8-11 “For I the
Lord…will make an everlasting covenant with them.
And their seed shall be known among the Gentile, and their offspring
among the people: all that see them shall acknowledge them, that they are the
seed which the Lord hath blessed. I
will greatly rejoice in the Lord, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for he hath
clothed me with the garments of salvation, he hath covered me with the robe of
righteousness, as a bridegroom decketh himself with ornaments, and as a bride
adorneth herself with her jewels.
For as the earth bringeth forth her, and as the garden causeth the things
that are sown in it to spring forth; so the Lord god will cause righteousness
and praise to spring forth before all the nations.
3. Isaiah
62:1-5 “For Zion’s
sake will I not hold my peace, and for Jerusalem’s sake I will not
rest, until the righteousness thereof go forth as brightness, and the salvation
thereof as a lamp that burneth. And
the Gentiles shall see thy righteousness, and all kings thy glory: and thou
shalt be called by a new name, which the mouth of the Lord shall name. Thou shalt also be a crown of glory in the hand of the Lord,
and a royal diadem in the hand of thy God.
Thou shalt no more be termed Forsaken; neither shall thy land any more be
termed Desolate: but thou shalt be called Hephzibah(my delight is in her), and
thy land Beulah(married): for the Lord delighteth in thee, and thy land shall
be married. For as a young man
marrieth a virgin, so shall thy sons marry thee: and as the bridegroom rejoiceth
over the bride, so shall thy God rejoice over thee.”
4. Jeremiah
33:10-11 “Thus saith the
Lord; Again there shall be heard in this place…The voice of joy, and the
voice of gladness the voice of the bridegroom, and the voice of the bride,
the voice of them that shall say, Praise the Lord of hosts: for the Lord
is good; for his mercy endureth forever: and of them that shall bring the sacrifice
of praise into the house of the Lord. For
I will cause to return the captivity of the land, as at the first, saith the
Lord.”
5. Matthew
9:15; Mark 2:19-20; Luke 5:34-35 “And
Jesus said unto them, Can the children of the bridechamber mourn, as long
as the bridegroom is with them? But
the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken from them, and
then shall they fast.”
6. Matthew
25:1-13 “Then shall the
kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went
forth to meet the bridegroom…the bridegroom tarried…Behold the
bridegroom cometh…the bridegroom came.”
7. John
2:1-11 “There was a
marriage in Cana of Galilee; and both Jesus was called, and his
disciples, to the marriage…the governor of the feast called the bridegroom…This
beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, and manifested
forth His glory; and His disciples believed on Him.”
8. John
3:29 John:“He that hath the bride is the bridegroom: but the friend of
the bridegroom, which standeth and heareth him, rejoiceth greatly because
of the bridegroom’s voice: this my joy therefore is fulfilled.”
9. Revelation
21:2-3 “And I John saw the
holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as
a bride adorned for her husband. And
I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is
with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be
his people, and God himself shall be with them and be their God.”
10.
Revelation 22:17 “And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And
let him that heareth say, Come.
And let him that is athirst come. And
whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.”
