AUTHORITY OF THE BIBLE

1.   Matthew 24:35 “Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not

   pass away.”

 

2.   Galatians 1:8-9 “We or an angel…preach any other gospel…let him be

    accursed.”

 

3.  I Timothy 4:1 “Fall away from the faith.”

 

4.  II Timothy 3:16-17 “All(pas=the whole)scripture(grapha=divine writing)

          is given by the inspiration of God(theopneustos=God

          breathed)and is profitable(ophelimos=helpful; useful;

          advantageous)for doctrine(didaskalia=teaching)for

          reproof(elegehos=conviction)for

          correction(epanorthosis=a straightening up again)for

          instruction(paideia=training as a child)in

          righteousness; that the man of God may be

          perfect(artios=complete, fitted), throughly

          furnished(exartizo=equip fully)unto all good works.”

 

3.   Hebrews 4:12 “For the word(logos)of God is quick(zac=live)and

 powerful(energes-active; operative; effectual)and

sharper(tomoteros=to cut)than any twoedged sword,

piercing to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit and of

the joints and marrow, and is a discerner(kritikos=judge)of

he thoughts(enthumesis=inward reasoning and feelings)and

intents(ennoia=intention; mind)of the heart(kardia=inward

part).”

    the word of God endureth forever.”

 

5.   II Peter 1:20-21 “Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of

     any private interpretation.  For the prophecy came not

     in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God

     spake as they were moved(phero=carried along; to bear

     or carry)by the Holy Ghost.”

 

6.   Jude 3 “Earnestly contend for the(one; only)faith(objective: sum of that

         which Christians believe)which was once delivered(aorist passive

         participle act completed in the past with no continuing

         element)unto the saints.”

 

7.   Revelation 22:18-19 “If any man shall add unto these things…take away

                                          from the words of the book of this prophecy…”

 

NOTE:  

BIBLE

Verbal = every word

Plenary = Full, entire Bible(Genesis to Revelation)

Inspired = God breathed

Inherent = Completely free from error

Infallible = Incapable of error, never wrong
