ANTIOCH
A.
Acts
11:19-26 “Now they which
were scattered abroad upon the
persecution that arose about Stephen, traveled as far as
Antioch, preaching the word to none but unto the Jews
only. Some of them were men of
Cyprus and Cyrene
which, when they were come to Antioch, spake unto the
Grecians, preaching the Lord Jesus. And the hand of the
Lord was with them: and a great number believed, and
turned unto the Lord.”
Then the tidings of these things came unto the ears of the
church which was in Jerusalem: and they sent forth
Barnabas, that he should go as far as Antioch.
Who when
he came, and had seen the grace of god, was glad, and
exhorted them all, that with purpose of heart they would
leave unto the Lord. For he
was a good man, and full of
the Holy Ghost and of faith: and much people was added
unto the Lord.”
“Then
departed Barnabas to Tarsus, for to seek Saul: And when he had found him, he
brought him unto Antioch. And it
came to pass, that a whole year they assembled themselves with the church, and
taught much people. And the
disciples were called Christians first in Antioch.”
B.
Acts
11:29-30 “Then the
disciples, every man according to his ability,
determined to send relief unto the brethren which dwelt in
Judaea: Which also they did, and sent it to the elders by the
hands of Barnabas and Saul.”
C.
Acts 12:25 “And Barnabas and Saul returned from Jerusalem, when they
had fulfilled their ministry, and took with them John, whose
surname was Mark.”
D.
Acts 13:1-4 “Now there were in the church that was at Antioch certain
prophets and teachers: as Barnabas, and Simeon that was
called Niger, and Lucious of Cyrene, and Manaen, which had
been brought up with Herod the tetrarch, and Saul.”
“As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said,
Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have
called them. And when they had
fasted and prayed, and laid
their hands on them, they sent them away. So
they being sent
forth by the Holy Ghost, departed.”

OTHER SCRIPTURES:
1.
I Corinthians 3:1-23
“For we are laborers together with God: ye are
God’s husbandry, Ye are God’s building.
(Ye also, as lively stones,
are built up a spiritual house. I
Peter 2:5) According to the grace of
God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder,
I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But first every man
take heed how he buildeth thereupon. For
other foundation can no
man lay that that is laid, which is
Jesus Christ. Now if any man build
upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay stubble;
For every man’s work shall be
made manifest: for the day shall
declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try
every man’s work of what sort it is.”
2.
Ephesians 2:19-22
“Now therefore ye are no more strangers and
foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints, and of the household of
God; And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and
prophets,
Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone; In whom all the
building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the
Lord: In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God
through the Spirit.”
3.
Ephesians 4:11-16
“And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets;
and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the
perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying
of the body of Christ: Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of
the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the
measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ;
That we henceforth be
no more children, tosses to and fro, and carried about with every wind
of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby
they lie in wait to deceive; But speaking the truth in love, may grow up
into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ: From whom the
whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every
Joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of
every part, making increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in
love.”
