CONFESSION

Confession is the Greek word homologeo meaning to speak the same thing.

I John 1:9If  we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

1.      Confess = homologeo meaning to speak the same thing, admit truth, take responsibility.

2.      Sins = hamartia meaning error, to miss the mark, to offend, to transgress, lawlessness, short of God’s perfection and glory.

3.      Faithful = pistos meaning steady, trustworthy, reliable, to give constant attention to, to give unceasing care to, to wait steadfastly upon, to persevere, true to His nature and promises.

4.      Just = dikaios meaning righteous, right, absolute rightness, honest, true, righteous behavior.  Also not deceptive, lying, cheating, stealing, meanness, misbehavior, irresponsible

5.      Forgive = aphiemi meaning to send, away, to release, remission, to let go, pay debt.

6.      Sins =hamartia meaning error(Same as above)

7.      Cleanse = katharizo meaning to make clean, clear, wiped out or away, blotted out, destroyed, removed, canceled.

8.      Unrighteousness = adikia meaning to injustice, wrong acts, bad deeds, contrary to God’s nature.

 

Confess = Say the same thing God says about sin:

1.      It is sin!

2.      I committed that sin!

3.      I repent of that sin!

4.      Christ died for that sin!

5.      Christ’s blood cleanses that sin!

6.      Christ forgave that sin!

7.      God separates that sin from me

8.      God remembers that sin no more!
