LOOKING
FOR A CITY!
1.
Genesis
4:-16-17
“And Cain(acquisition, act
of acquiring or gain) went out(yatsa=to
go forth or out) from the presence(panim=face,
countenance) of the Lord, and dwelt in(yashab=to sit down, or still) the land of Nod(wandering),
on the east(qidmah=eastward)
of Eden(delight).
And Cain knew his wife; and she conceived, and bare Enoch(teacher):
and he builded(banah=to
build up) a city(ir=a
city of busy concourse, an enclosed place), and called the name of
the city, after the name of his son, Enoch(teacher).”
2.
Genesis
11:1-4
“And the whole earth(erets=earth,
land) was of one(echad=
one) language(saphah=lip),
and of one(echad) speech(dabar=a
word). And
it came to pass, as they journeyed from the east, that they found a plain
in the land of Shinar(Babylonia); and they dwelt there(yashab=to
sit down or still).
And they said one to another, God to, let us make brick, and burn
them throughly.
And they had brick for stone, and slime had they for morter.
And they said, God to, let us build(banah=to
build up) us a city(city of busy concourse, enclosed place)and a
tower(migdal=a great tower), whose top(rosh=top, head) may reach unto heaven(shamayin= heaved up things); and let us make us a name(shem=renown),
lest we be scattered(puts=to
scatter) abroad(chuts(without,
outside) upon the face(panim=face)
of the whole earth(erets=earth,
land).”
3.
Genesis
11:5-9
“And the Lord came down(yarad=to
come down) to see(raah=to
see, behold, look, consider) the city(city of busy concourse,
enclosed place) and the tower(migdal=a
great tower), which the children of(ben=son,
produce) men(adam=man,
human being) builded(banah=to
build up).
And the Lord said, Behold, the people(am=a
people) is one(echad=one),
and they have all one(echad=one)
language(saphah=lip); and
this they begin to do: and now nothing(lo
kol=not any thing)will be restrained(batsar=to
be fenced off) from them, which they have imagined(zamam=to devise, purpose) to do.
Go to, let us go down, and there confound(balal=to
mix, mingle) their language(saphah=lip),
that they may not understand(shamea=to
hear, hearken) one another’s speech(dabar=a
word). So
the Lord scattered(puts=to
scatter) them abroad(chuts=the
outside, without) from thence upon the face(panim=face)
of all the earth(erets=earth,
land): and they left off(chadal=to
cease, lleave off) to build(banah(to
build up) the city(of a busy concourse, enclosed place) .
Therefore is the name of it called Babel(babil=gate
of God); because the Lord did there confound(balal=to mix, mingle) the language(saphah=lip) of all the earth: and from thence did the Lord scatter(puts=to
scatter) them abroad(shuts=the
outside, without) upon the face of all the earth.”

Genesis
11:26-32
“Terah(turning, wandering)lived seventy years, and begat Abram(father
of height), Nahor, and Haran.
Now these are the generations of Terah: Terah begat Abram,
Nahor, and Haran(strong, enlightend); and Haran begat Lot(concealed,
dark). And
Haran died before his father Terah in the land of his nativity, in Ur(light,
brightness)of the Chaldees.
And Abram and Nahor took them wives: the name of Abram’s
wife was Sarai; and the name of Nahor’s wife, Milcah, the daughter
of Haran, the father of Milcah, and the father of Iscah.
But Sarai was barren; she had no child.
And Terah took Abram his son, and Lot the son
of Haran his sons’ son, and Sarai his daughter in law, his son Abram’s
wife; and they went forth with them from Ur(light, brightness)of
the Chaldees, to go into the land of Canaan(low, flat); and they
came unto Haran(charan=strong, enlightened), and dwelt there(yashab=to
sit down, or still).
And the days of Terah were two hundred and five years: and Terah
died in Haran.

Genesis
12:1-5
“Now the Lord had said unto Abram(father of height), Get thee
out(yalak=to go on) of thy country(erets=land,
country), and from thy kindred(moledeth=birth),
and from thy father’s(ab=ancestor,
source, father) house(bayith=household,
house), unto a land(erets=country,
earth) that I will shew(raah=to
cause to see) thee.
And I will make of thee a great(gadol=great)
nation(goi=corporate body, nation), and I will bless(barak=to
declare blessed) thee and make thy name great (shem=
renown); and thou shalt be a blessing(berakah=blessing):
And I will bless(barak=to declare blessed) them that bless(bark=to
declare blessed) thee, and curse(arar=to
curse) him that curseth(qalal=to
vilify, revile) thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be
blessed.
So Abram(father of height) departed(yalak=to
go on) as the Lord had spoken unto him; and Lot(concealed,
dark) went with him: and Abram(father of height) was seventy
and five years old when he departed out of(yatsa=to
go out) Haran(charan=strong,
enlightened).
And Abram(father of height) took(laqach=to
take) Sarai(jah=prince)
his wife(ishshah=a wife),
and Lot(concealed, dark) his brother’s son, and all their
substance(qinyan=
possessions) that they had gathered(rakash=to
acquire, gain), and the souls(nephesh=animal
soul) that they had gotten(asah=to
do, make) in Haran(charan=strong,
enlightened); and they went forth to go(yalak=to go on) into the land of Canaan(low, flat); and into
the land of Canaan(low, flat) they came.”

Hebrews
11:8-10
“By faith(pistis=trust)
Abraham(father of a multitude), when he was called(kaleomai=to
be called) to go out(exerchomai=to
go forth or out) into(eisinto)
a place(topos=place)
which he should after (mello=to
be about to) receive(lambano=to
take, receive) for an inheritance(possession), obeyed(hupakouo=to
hearken submissively); and he went out(exerchomai=to
go forth or out), not knowing(epistamai=to
understand) whither he went(erchomai=to
go on). By
faith(pistis(trust,
reliance upon) he sojourned(paronkeo=to
dwell along side) in the land(ge=land,
earth) of promise(epaggelia=a
promise), as in a strange country(allotrios=belonging
to another), dwelling(katoikeo=to
settle down) in tabernacles(skene=dwelling
place, tent) with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs(one receiving a lot
with another) with him of the same promise (epaggelia=a promise):
For he looked(ekdechomai=to
receive out, wait for) for a city(polis=a
city with walls), which hath foundations(themelios= foundation, laid) whose builder(technites=artificer)
and maker (demiourgos=a
public worker) is God(theos).”
7.
Hebrews
12:22-24
“But ye are come unto mount Zion(fortress), and unto the city(polis=a
city with walls)of the living(zao=to
live) God(theos), the heavenly(epouranios=the
things in heaven) Jerusalem(possession of peace), and to an innumerable(anarithmetos=not
to be numbered) company (murias=a
myriad, tne thousand) of angels(aggelos=messenger,
agent of God), to the general assembly(paneguris=the whole assembly) and church(ekklesia=the
called out ones) of the firstborn(prototokos=first
born), which are written(apographo=to
write, enrolled) in heaven(ouranos
=heaven, and to God(theos) the Judge(krites=judge, critic) of all(pas=all, any, every), and to the spirits(pneuma)
of just men(dikaios=righteous)
made perfect(teleioo=to

8.
Hebrews
13: 10-16
“We have an altar(thusiasterion=a
place of sacrifice), whereof they have no(ou=not, no) right(exousia=privilege)to
eat(phago=to eat) which serve(latreuo=to
serve God) the tabernacle(skene=tent,
dwelling place).
For the bodies(soma=body) of those beasts(zoon=living creatures), whose blood(haima=blood) is brought into(eisphero=to bear in) the sanctuary(hagion=place set apart) by the high priest(archiercus=Chief
priest) for sin(hamartia=sin,
sin offering), are burned(katakaio=to
burn down) without(exo=outside)
the camp(
parembole=a camp, putting along side).
Wherefore Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people with his
own blood, suffered without the gate.
Let us go forth(exerchomai=to
go forth or out of) therefore unto him without(exo=outside) the camp(parembole=a
campo, putting along side), bearing(phero=to
bear) his reproach (oneidismos=insult),
For here have we no continuing(meno=to
remain) city(polis=a city
with walls), but we seek(epizeteo=to
seek after) one to come(mello=to
be about to be).
By him therefore let us offer(anaphero=to
bear up) the sacrifice(thusiaa=a
slaughter, as a slaughtered animal) of praise(ainesis=praise)
to God(theos) continually(diapantos=through
all time), that is the fruit(karpos=fruit)
of our lips(cheilos=lips)
giving thanks(to confess, profess, say the same thing) to His Name(onoma=name).
But to do good(eupoiia=well doing) and to communicate(koinonia=the act of using as common) forget not(epilanthanomai=to
forget about): for with such sacrifices(thusia=a
slaughter, as a slaughtered animal) God(theos) is well pleased(euaresteo=to
please well).”

Revelation
21:1-2
“And I saw a new(kainos=fresh,
recent, newly made) heaven(ouranos=heaven)
and a new(kainos=fresh,
recent, newly made) earth(ge=land,
earth): for the first(protos=first)
heaven(ouranos=heaven)
and the first(protos=first)
earth(ge=land, earth)
were passed away (parerchomai=to
go along) (; and there was no more sea(thalassa=sea).
And I John saw(eidom=to
know, be acquainted, see) the holy(hagios=set
apart, holy) city(polis=a
city with walls), new(kainos=new,
fresh, recent, newly made) Jerusalem(possession of peace), coming
down(katabaino=to come down)
from God(theos) out of(ek=out
of) heaven(ouranos=heaven),
prepared(hetoimazo=to
make ready) as a bride(numphe=bride)
adorned(kosmeo=to polish,
adorn) for her husband(aner=a
man, husband).
And the city(polis=a
city with walls) lieth foursquare(tetragonos=four
cornered), and the length is as large as the breadth: and he measured(metron=a measure) the city(polis=a city with walls) with the reed(kalamos=stalk, cane), twelve(dodrka=two and ten) thousand(chilioi=thousand) furlongs(stadion=one tenth of an English mile or 1,500 miles).
The length and the breadth and the height of it are equal(isos=the
same as, equal to).
And the city(polis=a
city with walls) had (chreia=use
or necessity) of the sun(helios=solar
light), neither of the moon(selene=moon),
to shine(phaino=to cause
to appear, shine) in it: for the glory(doxa=glory)
of God(theos) did
lighten it(photizo=to give
light), and the Lamb(arnion=a
little lamb) is the light(luchnos=a
lamp)thereof.”
10.
Revelation
22:14
“Blessed(makarios=happy)
are they that do(poieoto
do) his commandments(entole=thing
given in charge), that they may have right(exousia=privilege) to the tree(xulon=tree) of life(zoe=life), and may enter(eiserchomai=to
go or come into) in through the gates(pulon=gateway)
into the city(polis=a
city with walls).”
