OLD COVENANT

 

Micah 6:8:

1)        do justly (mishpat=just judgment), and to

 

2)        love mercy (ahabah=love; chesed=loving kindness), and to

 

3)        walk humbly with thy God (yalak=to go on; (tsana=to be lowly).”

 

 

NEW COVENANT

 

James 1:27:

 

Pure religion (katharos=clean, pure, clear; threskeia=outward religious service) and undefiled (unpolluted, immaculate) before God and the Father is this…

 

4)        to visit (episk=to be inspected or to look over) the fatherless (orphanos=orphan) and widows (chera=bereaved widow) in their affliction (thlipsis=pressure), and

 

5)        to keep (tereo=watch, observe) himself unspotted (aspilos=unspotted) from the world (kosmos=arrangement, allurement).”

 

 

 

JESUS’ SUMMARY

 

Matthew 22:36-40; Luke 10:27:

 

“Master, which is the greatest commandment?

 

6)        Thou shalt love (agapao=to love like God loves) the Lord (kurios=master) thy God (theos=object of worship)

 

a.          with all (holos=the whole) thy heart (kardia=emotions),

 

b.          and with all thy soul (suche=animal soul, will),

 

c.          and with all thy strength (ischus=force, body),

 

d.          and with all thy mind (dianoia=intellect, full mind);

 

 

7)        and to love (agapao=to love like God loves) thy neighbor (plesion=the one near or close to) as thyself (su=thou thyself)…

 

on these two commandments (entole=thing given in charge)

hang (to hang on) all the law (nomos=ordinance, custom) and the prophets (prophetes=public expounder)together…

 

and Jesus said, a certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho and fell among thieves…”(Luke 10:26-37 - Story of the Good Samaritan)
