SPIRITUAL WARFARE
II CORINTHIANS 10:3-6
V3: “For though we walk (peripateo = to
walk around) in the flesh (sarx), we do not war (strateuomai =
wage war) after the flesh (sarx):”
V4: “For the weapons (hopla = arms,
instruments) of our warfare strateia = military service) are not
carnal (sarkikos = fleshly), but mighty (dunatos = able, powerful)
through God (theos) to the pulling down (kathairesis = a taking
down, overthrow) of strong holds (ochuroma = a fortress);”
V5: “Casting down (kathaireo = put
down, lift down, overthrow) imaginations (logismos = reasonings), and
every high thing (hupsoma = high thing) that exalteth itself against
(epziro = to lift up against) the knowledge (gnosis) of God
(theos), and bringing into captivity (alchmanotizo = to take by the
spear) every thought (understanding, contrivance, design) to the
obedience (hupekoe = hearkening submissively) of Christ
(anointed);”
V6: “And having in a readiness (hetoimos
= to be ready) to revenge (ekdikeo = to avenge, exact full justice)
all disobedience (lack of attention, a hearing amiss), when your
obedience (hupakoe = hearking submissively) is fulfilled (pleroo =
to fill or to make full).” |
