SON OF MAN

 

This is the title that Christ most often used concerning Himself in referring to His humanity, Messiahship, manhood, perfect sinless example of mankind, the Second Adam.

GOSPEL ACCOUNTS

  1. Matthew 16:27-28 “For the Son of Man shall come in the glory of His father…Son of Man coming in His kingdom.”
  2. Matthew 20:28 “The Son of Man came to seek and to save that which is lost.”
  3. Matthew 26:2 “The Son of Man is betrayed and to be crucified.”
  4. Mark 9:9, 12 “Son of Man must suffer many things…Son of Man is risen from the dead.”
  5. Mark 10:33 “Condemn the Son of man to death.”
  6. Luke 1:31-32 “Behold thou shalt conceive in thy womb and bring forth a son and shall call His name Jesus.”
  7. Luke 5:24 “Son of Man hath power to forgive sin.”
  8. Luke 19:10 “The Son of Man I come to seek and to save that which is lost.”
  9. Luke 21:36 “Stand before the Son of Man.”
  10. John 1:14 “The Word was made flesh and dwelt among us.”
  11. John 5:27 “The Father hath given Him authority to execute judgment also because He is the Son of Man.”

ACTS ACCOUNTS

  1. Acts 7:56 “Behold, I see the heavens opened and the son of Man standing at the right hand of God.”
  2. Acts 17:31 “God hath appointed a day in which He will judge the world in righteousness by that Man (Son of Man) whom He hath ordained.”

EPISTLE ACCOUNTS

  1. Romans 1:3 “His Son Jesus Christ our Lord which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh.”
  2. Romans 8:3 “God sent His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin condemned sin in the flesh.”
  3. Romans 9:5 “Concerning the flesh, Christ came who is overall, God blessed forever.”
  4. I Corinthians 15:47 “The first man Adam is of the earth earthy, the Second Man is the Lord from heaven.”
  5. Galatians 4:4 “When the fullness of the time was come, God sent forth His Son made of a woman.”
  6. Philippians 2:7-8 “Made in the likeness of men and being found in fashion as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient unto death, even the dearth of the cross.”
  7. I Timothy 2:5 “For there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.”
  8. I Timothy 3:10 “God was manifest in the flesh.”
  9. Hebrews 2:16-18 “He (Son) took not on Him the nature of angels; but the seed of Abraham.  Wherefore in all things it behooved Him to be made like unto His brethren that He might be a merciful and faithful priest, for in that He Himself hath suffered being tempted He is able to succor them that are tempted.”
  10. Hebrews 10:12 “But this man after He hath offered one sacrifice for sins forever sat down on the right hand of God.”
  11. I John 4:2 “Hereby know ye the Spirit of God.  Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus is come in the flesh is of God.”
  12. II John 7 “Many deceivers are entered into the world who confess not that Jesus is come in the flesh.”
  13. Revelation 1:13 “In the midst of the seven candlesticks one like unto the Son of Man.”
  14. Revelation 14:14 “Upon the cloud one sat like unto the Son of Man having on His head a golden crown.”
