Greek Definition: douleuo meaning to be a slave to.

Scriptural Examples:

1.              Matthew 20:26-27 “Whosoever will be treat among you let him be your minister.” (diakonos=to run on errands, menial duties)

2.              Matthew 20:28 “I came not to be ministered to but to minister.” (diakoneo=to wait upon in menial tasks, to host)

3.              John 13:1-16 “Christ washing disciples feet.”

4.              Galatians 5:22 “The fruit of the Spirit is gentleness, meekness…”

5.              Philippians 2:3-9 “Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus…a servant…humbled Himself…God hath highly exalted Him…In lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.”

6.              Colossians 3:12 “Put on…humbleness of mind.”

7.              I Peter 5:5-6 “Be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud and giveth grace to the humble.  Humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God that He may exalt you in due time.”
