OBEDIENCE, IMPORTANCE OF

 

Definition:

Hebrew- shama meaning to hear, give attention

Greek- hupakoe meaning to listen, to attend, and so to submit

 

Old Testament Examples:

1.          Genesis 12:1-5 Hebrews 11:8-19 Abraham obeyed God.

2.          Exodus 23:20-30 Blessings of obedience.

3.          Numbers 20:8-11 Moses striking the rock.

4.          Joshua 7:1-24 Achan’s sin.

5.          Judges 14:1-16:31 Samson’s hair.

6.          I Samuel 15:22 To obey is better than sacrifice.

7.          I Chronicles 13:3-14; 15:13-16 David moves Ark of the Covenant.

8.          I Chronicles 21 Sin of numbering.

 

New Testament Examples:
