                        douloo = to make one a servant or slave

oiketes = a domestic, house servant

pais = a child, boy, servant

huperetis = an under rower, underling

misthios = a hired servant, hireling

1.      Matthew 4:10 (Luke 4:8)“Then said Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shall worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.”

2.      Matthew 10:24 “The disciple is not above his master, nor the servant above his lord.”

3.      Matthew 20:25-28(Mark 10:44-45; Luke 22:26-27) “But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Ye know that the princes of the Gentiles exercise dominion over them, and they that are great exercise authority upon them.  But not so among you: but whosoever will be great among you, let him be your minister; And whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant: Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.”

4.      Matthew 23:11 “But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant.”

5.      Mark 9:35 “I any man desire to be first, the same shall be last of all, and servant of all.”

6.      Luke 1:74 “Zacharias: That he would grant unto us, that we being delivered out of the hand of our enemies might serve him with fear, in holiness and righteousness before him, all the days of our life.”

7.      Luke 12:37 “Blessed are those servants, whom the Lord when he cometh shall find watching: verily I say unto you, that he shall gird himself, and make them to sit down to meat, and will come forth and serve them.”

8.      John 12:26 “I any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honor.”

9.      John 13:13-16 “Ye call me Master and Lord: and ye say well; for so I am.  If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another’s feet.  For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you.  Verily, verily, I say unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord; neither he that is sent greater than he that sent him.  If ye know these things, happy are ye if ye do them.”

10.  John 15:20 “Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord.  If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also.”

23.  I Corinthians 4:5 “For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus’ sake.”

24.  I Corinthians 9:19 “For thou I be free from all men, yet have I made myself servant unto all, that I might gain the more.”

25.  II Corinthians 9:1,12 “For as touching the ministering to the saints, it is superfluous for me to write to you: For the administration of this service not only supplieth the want of the saints, but is abundant also by many thanksgivings unto God.”
