GIFTS OF HEALINGS

 

KEY SCRIPTURE: “But the manifestation of the spirit is given to every man to profit withal, for to one is given by the Spirit…the gifts of healings …now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular.  And God hath set some in the church…gifts of healings…Have all the gifts of healings…?”

1.          Matthew 8:16-17 “Jesus cast out the spirits with his word, and healed all that were sick: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses.”

PRACTICAL APPLICATION IN MINISTERING TO THE SICK:

1.      Interviewing the Sick

a.       How do you feel?

b.      What is the nature of your hurt?

c.       Where does it hurt?

d.      Do you want to be made well?

e.       What do you want the Lord to do for you?

2.      Basic Diagnosis

a.       Why does it hurt and what is the cause of the hurt?

b.      What relationship if any does it have to sin?

3.      Prayer Selection

a.       Petition

b.      Intercession

c.       Command, i.e., “Come out!”…“Be loosed!”…“Be set free!”

d.      Pronouncement, i.e. “Take up your bed and alk!”…”Arise!”…”Go and wash!”

e.       Rebuke, i.e. “Stop!”…”Be silent!”…”Hold your peace!”

f.        Pray in the Spirit, languages

4.      Begin Prayer

a.       Keep eyes open “Watch and pray.” Matthew 26:41

b.      Watch for eye dilation, fluttering.

c.       Watch for any spasms.

d.      Watch for temperature changes, red faced, glow.

e.       Watch for breathing changes.

f.        Ask questions, i.e., “What are you feeling?  What are you thinking?
