    BIBLICAL ROLE OF CHILDREN

     

    Children are known before birth(See Detailed Study on Womb)

    • Jeremiah 1:5 “Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee…”
    • Job 31:15 “Did not He that made me in the womb make him?  And did not one fashion us in the womb?”
    • Isaiah 44:2 “Thus said the Lord that made thee, and formed thee from the womb…”
    • Psalms 22:10 “Thou art my God from my mother’s belly.”

     

    Children are an heritage of the Lord and fruit of the womb

    • Psalm 127:3 “Children are an heritage of the Lord and the fruit of the womb is His reward.”

     

    Children are to know the Scripture

    • II Timothy 3:15 “That from a child thou hast known the holy Scriptures.”
    • Proverbs 5:7 “Hear me now therefore, O ye children, and depart not from the words of my mouth.”
    • Proverbs 8:32 “Now therefore hearken unto me, O ye children: for blessed are they that keep my ways.”

     

    Children are to have faith

    • II Timothy 1:5 “Unfeigned faith that is in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice; and I am persuaded that is in thee  also.”

     

    Children are to obey their parents

    • Ephesians 6:1 “Children obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right.”
    • Colossians 3:20 “Children, obey your parents in all things: for this is well pleasing unto the Lord.”

     

    Children are to listen to their parents

    • Proverbs 4:1 “Hear, ye children, the instruction of a father and attend to know understanding.”

     

    Children are to be subject to their parents

    • Luke 2:51 “And Jesus went down with his parents, and came to Nazareth, and  was subject unto them.”

     

    Children are to honour their parents

    • Ephesians 6:1 “Honour thy father and mother.”

     

    Children are promised long life

    • Ephesians 6:2-3 “Honour thy father and mother which is the first commandment with promise: that it may be well with thee and thou mayest live long on the earth.”

     

    Children are to grow in the favour of God and man

    • Luke 2:40 “And the child(Jesus)grew, and waxed strong in spirit, filled with wisdom: and the grace of God was upon him.”
    • Luke 2:52 “And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man.”
    • I Samuel 2:21 ”The child Samuel grew before the Lord.”
    • I Samuel 2:26 “The child Samuel grew on, and was in favour both with the Lord and also with men.”

     

    Children are to minister to the Lord

    • I Samuel 2:11 “And the child Samuel ministered unto the Lord before Eli the priest.”
    • I Samuel 2:18 “But Samuel ministered before the Lord, being a child, girded with a linen ephod.”
    • I Samuel 3:1 “And the child Samuel ministered unto the Lord before Eli.”

     

    Children are known by what they do

    • Proverbs 20:11 “A child is known by his doings, whether his work be pure, and whether it be right.”

     

    Children shall lead others

    • Isaiah 11:6 “And a little child shall lead them.”

     

    Children are to glory in their fathers

    • Proverbs 17:6 “The glory of children are their fathers.”

     

    Children are to call their mothers blessed

    • Proverbs 31:28 “Her children rise up and call her blessed.”

     

    Children are to support their parents

    • I Timothy 5:4 “Children support parents in need.”

     

    Jesus’ ministry to Children

    • Mark 10:14-16 “Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.”
    • “Verily I say unto you, whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a a little child, he shall not enter therein.”
    • “And Jesus took them up in his arms, put his hands upon them, and bless  them.”
