JESUS’ RESURRECTION

Old Testament Prophecy:

1. Psalm 16:9-10 “My flesh shall rest in hope for thou wilt not leave my soul in hell neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.”(Acts 2:31-32)

New Testament Prophecy:

1.      Matthew 12:40 “As Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale’s belly, so shall the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.”

2.      Matthew 20:19 “On the third day the Son of Man shall rise.”

3.      Matthew 26:32 “After I am risen again, I will go before you unto Galilee.

4.      John 14:19 “Because I live ye shall live also.”

Fulfillment of Prophecy:

1.      Matthew 28:1-7 “He is not here He is risen.”

2.      Mark 16:1-7 “He is risen He is not here.”

3.      Luke 24:1-7 “He is not here but is risen.”

4.      John 20:1f “We have seen the Lord.”

Witnesses to Jesus’ Resurrection:

1. Enemies - Matthew 27:63 “He said while He was alive, After three days I will rise again.”(Matthew 28:11-15)
2. Angels – Matthew 28:6 “He is not here, but is risen as He said.”
3. Mary Magdalene – Mark 16:9 “Now when Jesus was risen early the first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom he had cast seven demons.”
4. Other Mary – Matthew 28:9 “And as Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to tell his disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, All hail.  And they came and held him by the feet, and worshipped him.”
5. Two Disciples on Emmaus Road – Luke 24:13-15 “And, behold, two of them went that same day to a village called Emmaus, which was from Jerusalem about threescore furlongs…”
6. Simon Peter – Luke 24:13-15 “The Lord is risen indeed, and hath appeared to Simon.”  I Corinthians 15:5 “He was seen of Cephas:”
7. Eleven – John 20:26 “And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them: then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace be unto you.” Matthew 28:16-18 “Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, into a mountain where Jesus had appointed them.”
8. Seven – John 21:f “After these things Jesus shewed himself again to the disciples at the Sea of Tiberius;”
9. 500 – I Corinthians 15:6 “After that he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep.”
10. All Apostles - Luke 24:51 “And Jesus led the eleven out as far as to Bethany, and he lifted up his hands, and blessed them.  And while he blessed them, he was parted from them, and carried up into heaven.”  Acts 1:2-3 “The apostles to whom he had shewed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days.”  Acts 4:33 “And with great power gave the apostles witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus:” I Corinthians 15:5 “Jesus was seen of the twelve.”  I Corinthians 15:7 “After that, he was seen of all the apostles.”
11. James – I Corinthians 15:7 “After that, he was seen of James.”
12. Paul – I Corinthians 15:8 “And last of all Christ was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time.”  I Corinthians 15:4 “Christ was buried and rose again the third day according to the Scriptures.”  Romans 10:9 “If thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.”  Philippians 3:10 “That I may know Him and the power of His resurrection.”
13. John – Revelation 1:5, 18 “Jesus Christ is the faithful witness and the first begotten of the dead.  I am He that liveth and was dead and behold I am alive forevermore. Amen.”
