Note: The most frequently used
terms of the writers of the New Testament in addressing believers
collectively were:
- “To the church that meets in the house of…” i.e. Nymphas in
Laodicea
- “To the church in the city of…” i.e. Jerusalem, Antioch,
Ephesus
- “To the churches of the territory or area of…” i.e. churches of
Asia
